Pillsbury Cinnamon Rolls and I go wayyyy back. I remember when I was younger and the cinnamon, sweet, delicious aroma was my alarm clock every Sunday morning. This sugar-packed breakfast was the only time the family got up remotely early and sat down at the table completely silent. No, it was not because it was 9 a.m., but because the fluffiness of the warm biscuit literally rolled in cinnamon chunks, then generously covered in creamy, sweet icing shut us all up.
I'm sure a lot of you reading know exactly what I'm talking about but if not here's a picture of the most nostalgic breakfast sent down from heaven in order to bless our tastebuds...
Now, we all know the drill: preheat the oven to 400 degrees F, spray a baking sheet with cooking oil, arrange the rolls on your prepared tray, and place them in the oven for 13-17 minutes or until golden brown. But, what if I told you there is another way to cook these that have nothing to do with the oven? Well, calling all waffle lovers, this one is for you!
How to Make Cinnamon Rolls with a Waffle Maker:
The first thing you will need is of course a waffle maker! I purchased this waffle maker about a year ago and it is probably my favorite investment.
Look how cute it is! Anyway, once you have your waffle maker...
- Preheat your waffle maker
- Spray both the bottom and top with cooking oil AFTER it is preheated. If you spray cooking oil before you preheat it, the oil will burn and get all over your cinnamon waffle (trust me).
3. Place one Pillsbury Cinnamon Roll on the bottom of your waffle maker, bring the top down, and hold for about 1 & 1/2 minutes...
Or until golden brown like this.
Note:
Before you cook a new cinnamon roll on your waffle maker, always spray on more cooking oil.
4. Place your finished waffles on a plate. I like to warm up the icing in the microwave for about 15 seconds and drizzle it on the waffles, sprinkling on some ground cinnamon after.
This new way of cooking a childhood favorite is great when it is a hot day and using the oven is out of the question. The texture of the waffle pattern definitely brings something new to the table, literally. These Pillsbury Cinnamon Waffles will surely keep you coming back for more!
